After reading the material and analyzing the advantages and disadvantages of teaching across age levels, I think that it`s better to teach CHILDREN.
I used to teach children some years ago, and that was a very nice experience because children are very honest, pure, and intelligent. Even though I didn`t teach English, I enjoyed to work with them. So, I think that if I taught them something that I really like, as English, it`d be something great.
It`s true that you have a lot of work to do when you teach children, but when you do it you see the results, and most of the time the results are good.
Children have a very high IQ, and most of them learn quickly; especially if they like what they are learning, in this case English. They are always active and motivated if you as a teacher make them feel comfortable.
Sometimes children have short attention spans, so it`s challenging for the teacher to make the class interesting for them.
Besides, I would like to teach children because the topics are very easy. For example: the alphabet, the colors, fruits and vegetables, the numbers, etc. You don`t have to explain difficult topics of grammar, things like that.
In fact, I believe that TEACHING is a big deal, and it doesn`t matter if you teach children, teen, or adults, it is very difficult. So I think that we have to experience with all tipes of people. But I would like to start with children.
I dare to disagree regarding the allegedly high IQ of kids. They just learn faster (not all of them), which isn't the same at all. Only in child prodigies is the IQ very high at a young age.
ResponderEliminarOh, and even though some people could be reluctant to admit it. It's not unusual that you prefer kids as you're a woman with maternal instincts. Notice how kindergarten teachers are practically exclusively women. Plus, most children are talkative and small like you. So I guess it's kind of a perfect match, I can see it clearly now.
jaja you and only you Jonhy! I don`t prefer children because of my height. Acually that`s one of the few reasons why I wouldn`t like to teach children. (I won`t explain this point here)
ResponderEliminarAccording to what you said that I prefer them because I am a woman... Uhmmm I agree.
Well, each person has a different and poin of view about children. And as you don`t like them, you`ll never be in agreement with me. But anyway I like them.
And as you are always reading about IQ levels and things like that. I trust in what you said about children`s IQ.
That`s it.
lupita, lupita. you always thinking about easy things. it is good to challenge yourself to do difficult things because you learn more. you say that topics for children are easier and it is true. you have to take into account that you will find children who do not like english, children who like english but it is difficult for them to assimilate the content, so it is a problem too.
ResponderEliminarit will depend on where you get a job. If you go to one of those very recognized private schools, your job won´t be that easy. I have heard that in first grade these kids are studying science, language, social studies and other subjects included in their curriculum in Englis. As you can see, the easy job disappears and what you get is to convert abstract stuff into very concrete topics.
ResponderEliminarooooops! I got scared Teacher Aida!!!!!!!!!!!
ResponderEliminarBut anyway some day I`ll teach...
Thanks for your comments people.
