Hello everybody!!!
Today`s activities were very nice. I liked to see Quike as our teacher. He is very creative and I like the way he applied his method. I think that is the way in which our teachers have been teaching us since we began our studies at the university. I think Quique`s method is very useful with beginners because it is mostly about repeating and reapiting. That`s why I think that advanced learners would get bored with repetition activities. Of course we all know that there are some other activities in this method which are useful for the other levels.
I guess that I`d apply it in my classes if I taught to beginners.
Jonathan`s activity was kind of different. I really wouldn`t apply this type of activities with my students because I think that when people is being recorded they feel uncomfortable, and they don`t behave naturally, so that they don`t learn as they should.
But that was funny to listen to my classmates` recordings, and that was awful to listen to myself. I sound weird, and I didn`t know!
Luis did very well. I enjoyed reading the funny job application, and I liked to fill my own application. That was nice.
About Xavier activities... what can I say???
uhmmm I liked the activities that he developed even though I didn`t like the topic at all. (Sorry Xavy) ...Unfortunately the rain was a big problem because we couldn`t hear what he said. At the end I was like "guessing". Nevertheless I like the activities because they were like the activities that we are acostumed to.
I would apply Xavier`s method in my classes if I worked with advanced students.
Thanks everybody for sharing you creativity with me.
I agree with you. Some of our classmates had funny presentations. I think my activity would work better with children. Xavier did a nice job.
ResponderEliminarwow Lupita you always write a lot, and it is really nice. I would like to but in my case something it is pretty difficult because I have to look for my free time and you know doing this is cybers means to spend a lot of money. that´s why I try to do it as quicky as I can.
ResponderEliminarI agree with you all the activities were nice, Quique looked different as the way we are acustomed to see him, his activities were nice too. Jonathan´s activities were nice but in my case there is a problem coz I do not like to be recorded.
Luis always make us laugh a lot, even though some topics seem to be boring but he does his best to make them funny. there was a problem with Xavier´s presentation and it was the rain. But he could deal with it and complete his presentation. so congrats everybody.
Hello Lupita. Well I agree with you and I also thing that most of teacher use these kind of activities to teach; maybe it is because they really have good results.
ResponderEliminarI think that now we have a lot of activities in order to teach our students in the best way. Now we only have to apply these activities and understand if to be a teacher is what we really want because this is going to help us to love our job.
MMMMM......I liked all the activities and also the games.
hi lupita! I definitely agree with you in your comment about the CLL activity and I wouldn't apply it with students either. Quique's activity was funny and it´s likely to be used more with beginners because of the constant repetition after the teacher. I think that all my classmates did it great.
ResponderEliminarHi all!!
ResponderEliminarit really atracts my attention how you would hold back at being recorded. Don´t you think your students may profit from an activity like this?
Imagine your principle or academy supervisor would ask you to record one of your classes, would you dare saying "NO"?
How would you convince your class to be videotaped or recorded?
As you will read in your handouts, sometimes we don´t decide how to teach. There´s a principle or a class supervisor who is always suggesting us to do different things in class.
And one more thing, why do you think they ask teachers to videotape or record their classes?
I hope some of you would answer these questions in another blog entry?
Thanks for beiing so active commenting.
Yeah, I was a bit surpraised of the tremendous rejection the recording activity got. I mean, it was obvious that no one liked too much to be recorded in the classroom, but now reading the comments on blogs, I've come to realize that you truly disliked it deeply or something...
ResponderEliminarThat's quite unexpected since as we are in an advanced level, that sort of behavior shouldn't be the case, what does that reaction suggest or what image does it give of us? that we can't face a little "challenge", probably...
Anyway, I repeat something I've already said before, most people don't use CLL anymore. Recorded conversations could work better with kids. Nevertheless it shouldn't be completely "banned" from our teaching practice, in my opinion. I also believe it takes some time to get accustomed, that's all.
Note: I created another blog entry with answers to the teacher's questions.
